जागरूकता फैलाने के संदेश के साथ आज हस्त प्रक्षालन दिवस मनाया गया । ग्रामीण विकास राज्य मंत्री सुश्री अगाथा संगमा ने कार्यक्रम की अगुवाई की । उन्होंने भोजन से पूर्व और मल त्याग के पश्चात् साबुन से अच्छी तरह हाथ धोने के संदेश के प्रचार द्वारा स्वच्छता और सफाई के संवर्धन के लिए कार्य करने हेतु समालखा में सर्वोदय कन्या विद्यालय में समारोह में बच्चों और शिक्षकों को शपथ दिलायी ।

समारोह की अध्यक्षता करते हुए मंत्री महोदया ने सभी विद्यालयों में नियमित आधार पर साबुन की उपलब्धता, पर्याप्त जल और हाथ धोने की सुविधा और विद्यालयों में स्वास्थ्य विज्ञान पर जोर देने के साथ अच्छे रख-रखाव वाली जल और सफाई सुविधा को सुनिश्चित करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया । उन्होंने पूरे वर्ष हस्त प्रक्षालन पर जोर देने के साथ स्वच्छता और सफाई के संवर्धन में मदद करने के लिए ग्रामीण समुदाय से भी आग्रह किया ताकि विद्यालय जाने वाले बच्चों के स्वास्थ्य और बेहतरी को सुनिश्चित किया जा सके ।

इस अवसर पर विद्यालय के बच्चो और शिक्षकों द्वारा हस्त प्रक्षालन के महत्त्व पर प्रहसन, मध्याह्न भोजन सहित अनेक कार्य-कलाप आयोजित किए गए थे । महान क्रिकेटर सचिन तेंदुलकर से संदेश के साथ हस्त प्रक्षालन के महत्त्व पर एक फिल्म की स्क्रीनिंग एक दूसरा महत्त्वपूर्ण आकर्षण था ।

इस वर्ष के हस्त प्रक्षालन दिवस के केन्द्र बिन्दु शिक्षक हैं जिन्हें मध्याह्न भोजन से पूर्व साबुन अथवा सफाई की अन्य वस्तु से सभी बच्चों का हाथ धोना सुनिश्चित करने हेतु अभिमुख किया गया है ।

स्कूल के बच्चों और शिक्षकों को सम्बोधित करने वालों में ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय के अधीन पेयजल आपूर्ति विभाग में संयुक्त सचिव श्री जे.एस. माथुर, जल एवं वातावरणीय सफाई, यूनिसेफ इंडिया की प्रमुख सुश्री लिजेन बर्गर्स, यूनिसेफ के उप-प्रतिनिधि श्री केविन एस एल लुइस और राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र दिल्ली सरकार के शिक्षा विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारीगण शामिल हैं ।

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में यह कार्यक्रम पेय जलापूर्ति विभाग, सर्व शिक्षा अभियान, मध्याह्न भोजन कार्यक्रम, जी नेट दिल्ली और यूनिसेफ (यूएनआईसीईएफ) के सहयोग से आयोजित किया गया था ।

Gothenburg Half Marathon is the world biggest 21 kilometers race. From all over world 37 countries participated in the 30th Gothenburg Half Marathon in Gothenburg, Sweden, Which included around 54,000 runners. The Half Marathon race has developed to 50% more in size during last three years.

Volvo Group, had the largest group of runners from the same company with 2,000 runners. The winners were Nicholas Manza Kamikaya from Kenya and Ana Dulce Felix from Portugal with times of respectively 61.55 and 71.27.

Roger Ebert talks using a computerized voice system. He initially chose to use a voice with a British accent that he named "Lawrence", but eventually began using one with an American accent.
Ebert underwent further surgery on January 24, 2008, this time in Houston, to address the complications from his previous surgeries. A statement afterwards from Ebert and his wife indicated that "the surgery went well, and the Eberts look forward to giving you more good news ..." but on April 1, the 41st anniversary as film critic at the Sun-Times, Ebert announced that there had been further complications and his speech had not been restored. His love for movies and writing remain intact. He wrote, "I am still cancer-free, and not ready to think about more surgery at this time. I should be content with the abundance I have." His columns resumed shortly after the April 23 opening of his annual film festival at the University of Illinois.
Prior to the festival, Ebert went to the Pritikin Longevity Center & Spa for physical therapy. On April 18, 2008, it was announced that he had fractured his hip in a fall there and had undergone surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, back in Chicago, to repair the injury. After consulting his doctors he decided he could not attend the festival, instead writing occasional blogs on the festival films.

Indigo Flight makes emergency landing following unruly behaviour of two passengers - Following receipt of the information from ATC in New Delhi, through the pilot of Indigo Flight No. E- 664 at about 5.15 pm that there were couple of passengers behaving aggressively who also said that they would hijack the plane, all precautionary measures were activated as per the prescribed drill.

The plane which made emergency landing at 5.29 pm was taken to an isolated area and CISF/NSG immediately cordoned off the area.

The Committee of Secretaries on Anti–Hijacking (COSAH) chaired by the Cabinet Secretary met immediately thereafter. After reviewing all aspects of the situation and satisfying itself that it was safe to disembark the passengers, the decision was taken to do so with all precautions in place including screening of the alighting passengers.

French Pot Ice Cream

Graeter's ice cream is made in a French pot process. The ice cream mix is placed into a chilled, spinning French pot. As the liquid freezes, a worker scrapes down the sides of the pot with a blade. For flavors that include chocolate chips, liquid chocolate is poured into the pot, and freezes into a thin shell on top of the ice cream. A worker uses a blade to break up this shell and mix it into the ice cream, resulting in Graeter's' famous huge dark chocolate chips.

Each batch of ice cream is only about two gallons and is thus very labor intensive. The resulting ice cream is so thick that it must be hand-packed into pints. The ice cream is sold in pint containers at Graeter's stores, and at food markets, including Giant Eagle grocery, Kroger, also a Cincinnati-based company, King Soopers stores in Denver, Colorado, and at Heinen's Markets in Cleveland. Because of the small batches and high amount of labor involved, Graeter's pints are more expensive than other brands of premium ice cream, such as Ben & Jerry's and Häagen-Dazs.

In an article on the ice cream industry, The New York Times pointed out that for reasons of chemistry not yet understood, ice cream made in small batches is far superior in taste to factory-made premium brands like Häagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry's. This article went on to say that “...the ice cream most connoisseurs feel to be the best in the world, Graeter’s of Cincinnati, is made in two gallon batches."[1] Like most super-premium ice creams, Graeter’s has a high butter fat content, between 16 and 18%. On her show in July, 2002, Oprah Winfrey said: "You haven't had ice cream till you've had Graeter's. The butter pecan is Stedman's favorite, and mine, too." The company was then overwhelmed with phone and Internet orders.

Graeter's stores also receive ice cream in two-gallon tubs, which they scoop to make ice cream cones, ice cream sodas, and milkshakes. Graeter's also sells its ice cream online, and offers fresh baked-goods and hand-dipped chocolate.

Efforts are under way to establish necessary infrastructure for casting large boosters, liquid propellant engines, heavy cryo boosters and for development of advanced missions in the area of remote sensing, communications, navigational satellites and space science systems. Necessary ground infrastructure for providing mission support during launch phase and in orbit support for the planned missions is under realization. With the successful realization and on-orbit performance of the space systems, we can confidently look forward to make substantial inroads into the competitive international launch services and satellite markets.

National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Department of Information Technology is providing network backbone and e-Governance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services including Nationwide Communication Network for decentralised planning, improvement in Government services and wider transparency of national and local Governments. NIC assists in implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments, in the areas of (a) Centrally sponsored schemes and Central sector schemes, (b) State sector and State sponsored projects, and (c) District Administration sponsored projects. NIC endeavours to ensure that the latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its users.

E-district project is a State Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of Ministry of Communications & IT. It envisages the backend computerization of the government departments and the district administration to provide services at the doorstep of citizens. The project seeks to automate the workflow and internal processes of District Administration with the possibility of seamless integration of various departments. A total 32 services from 10 departments have been selected for complete automation.

The ‘eDistrict’ application software has been developed by National Informatics Centre Uttar Pradesh. It is a web based solution (http://edistrict.up.nic.in) which ensures 100% electronic workflow of the service - right from receipt of applications to the final delivery of service. The status of application can be tracked by the citizen and the government officials through the portal and the escalation matrix ensures the adherence to the service levels defined for each service. Technologies such as digital signatures have been used for the approval of the application & issuance of certificates. GPR has been carried at all levels to move from archaic rules to the modern technology based decision making, focus has been laid on training and change management right at the district, tehsil & block level of administration to fulfill the project’s objective of providing services to the citizens in friendly, transparent and easier manner.
