The Golden Jubilee Year of the official language (Hindi) was the year 1999. A fortnight long celebrations were held which was inaugurated by then President Shri K.R. Narayanan on September 14,1999.
The closing ceremony for the fortnight long Golden Jubilee Celebrations was held on September 29,1999 wherein prizes were distributed for various competitions held during the fortnight for promotion of Hindi in the Government offices. As for Hindi essay competition, there will be separate prizes for Hindi speaking and non-Hindi speaking participants were given.
The Official Languages Wing of the Law Ministry is charged with responsibility of translating Constitution in Hindi and other official languages as also Central Acts, Rules and Regulations in Hindi and other official languages. It is also charged with preparation of Hindi version of all the Notes for the Cabinet and other policy making papers on behalf of the Government of India comprising all Ministries and Departments.
